“Isolation and Community is an immersive sound and lighting experience that imagines the viewer as a part of the visual and sonic environment. Utilizing large sound and lighting systems and emerging control technologies, this project will take place in the UMBC PAHB Proscenium Theatre and will explore the themes of isolation and the need for community that our society is struggling with in this era of global pandemic, lockdowns and fear of the other. What is it to be alone? What is it to be in a group? When are we both? How much of either do we need in our daily lives? These are questions that our team is interested in exploring using these technologies. Please join Lighting students from the Department of Theatre and Composition students from the Department of Music to witness and enjoy this 30 minute experience.”
